Acatenango
This renowned volcano boasts two peaks offering breathtaking views, where visitors can witness the awe-inspiring eruptions of the Fuego Volcano.
This two-day tour begins in Antigua Guatemala. From there, you’ll journey to the town of La Soledad, the starting point for your ascent of this incredible volcano.
The hike is challenging and takes approximately 5 hours. The summit stands at an elevation of 3,976 meters (13,044 feet) above sea level, with temperatures potentially dropping to 5°C (41°F). Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and stay well-hydrated throughout the journey.
The group will reach the campsite around 4 PM, just in time to enjoy a stunning sunset and witness the fiery eruptions of the Fuego Volcano under the night sky. We’ll provide the necessary equipment and assist in setting up the camp.
Local guides offer an optional nighttime hike to the Fuego Volcano for an additional fee of Q200, payable directly at the park.
On the following morning, you’ll hike to the crater’s summit to witness a breathtaking sunrise. After enjoying breakfast, you’ll begin the descent, arriving back in Antigua, around noon.
If you’re in Guatemala City, you can join the tour in Antigua or we can arrange private transportation directly to Acatenango. For experienced hikers, we also offer private tours with the option to hike up and down on the same day, perfect for catching the sunrise or sunset.
