Pacaya Volcano
An awe-inspiring natural wonder, recognized by National Geographic as one of the world’s top hikes.

Our journey to Pacaya Volcano begins in either Guatemala City or Antigua, both just 40 km (25 miles) away from the park. The ascent takes approximately one hour and can be completed on foot or horseback, offering an unforgettable experience.

Once you reach the summit, you’ll be captivated by the breathtaking views of a diverse volcanic landscape, featuring majestic cones, craters, rolling hills, and a serene lagoon that supplies vital water to more than 14 communities.

A crater of an active volcano, expulsing ashes, steam, and, occasionally lava.
You can choose to visit at sunrise, in the morning, or at sunset for a unique experience. If hiking the volcano isn’t your preference, you can still explore its outskirts and soak in the stunning views.

Pacaya Volcano is a family-friendly destination, standing at 2,500 meters (8,200 ft) in height. With its pleasant weather, it’s perfect for hiking in comfortable attire like shorts or jeans. We recommend bringing a jacket, and carrying a backpack for your essentials.

One of the most unforgettable activities is eating pizza freshly baked on the hot volcanic rocks of the Pacaya. Additionally, you can unwind and enjoy the soothing hot springs at Santa Teresita Spa.
