Ascend the enigmatic temples of Tikal

The tour begins at 7:30 AM from the charming Isla de Flores, which you can reach by plane or an overnight bus from Guatemala City.

You will travel for about 2 hours from Isla de Flores to the stunning ruins of Tikal. Upon arrival, you’ll embark on a 3-hour tour led by an expert guide in Maya archaeology. As you explore, you’ll walk through towering palaces and ancient temples, immersed in the lush tropical jungle. After lunch, you’ll return to Isla de Flores and unwind by the tranquil shores of Lake Petén Itzá. The tour concludes at 4 PM.

How to get to Tikal?

Tikal is located 525 km (325 miles) from Guatemala City. The easiest way to get there is by plane, with a flight duration of 45 minutes. There is also an overnight bus that covers the route in about 8 hours and features fully reclining seats. Alternatively, you can take a multi-day trip, connecting with Río Dulce or Semuc Champey.

Near Tikal is Yaxhá, another monumental city that dates back thousands of years. This site is strategically located on the shores of impressive lagoons and rivers.

You can combine Tikal and Yaxhá into a 2-day trip, with an overnight stay on the picturesque Isla de Flores. Another wonderful place is Crater Azul, a crystal-clear lagoon with an underwater garden. To reach it, you’ll take a boat through the tropical rainforest along the Pasión River, one of the longest in the region.
